Insula Quality World - A journey between nature and spirituality 100 Towers, Santu Jacu and Sant'Efisio
One week organized by Region and Cipnes to re-discover Sardinia
More and more are “experiential” tourists, that is, travelers looking not only for places such as sea and mountains, but for immersive experiences, for a deeper and more identity-based knowledge according to a composite approach that brings together culture, history, art, in a few words, the identity, precisely, of territories. This is the origin of one of Insula's key assets, which is the one dedicated to slow tourism and religious trails. With the regional territorial marketing program “Insula Sardinia Quality World, a journey to discover a world called Sardinia”, the Department of Tourism, Commerce and Handicrafts of the Region of Sardinia and Cipnes-Gallura, the implementing entity, intend to exploit this trend of migration from an exclusively seaside tourism to “experiential” tourism through a series of strategic actions that enhance the knowledge of the most authentic Sardinia, and tell it through a model of sustainable tourism and based on local identity, on the culture of good food from Sardinian supply chain, on the knowledge of the arts and our traditions. Sardinia is therefore a land of paths that can be known all year round. The Department of Tourism, Handicrafts and Trade and Cipnes Gallura are thus promoting the week of slow tourism and religious walks in Sardinia: from Oct. 3 to 7 next, walkers, journalists and videomakers will travel across Sardinia crossing 15 different itineraries (8 paths and 7 pilgrimage destinations) divided into groups of 30 people, accompanied by expert guides, to discover at a slow pace our magical island in an immersive journey among spirituality, nature, biodiversity, archaeology, food and wine in contact with the people of the 72 municipalities crossed. The most important ones are the Way of Santu Jacu, of Santa Barbara, of the 100 Towers and of Sant'Efisio. A way to immerse oneself in the nature and traditions of Sardinia, experience unique moments of faith by walking the itineraries and religious paths dedicated to slow and sustainable tourism from the north to the south of the island. The Way of Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners, crosses the Iglesiente, Arburese and Guspini areas. The Way of St. Ephisius is a pilgrimage between devotion and folk in honor of Cagliari's patron saint, starting from the capital and returning after a stop in Nora. The cammino di San Giorgio, dedicated to Giorgio di Suelli, crosses the island from Cagliari to Parteolla and Trexenta, to Ogliastra and Barbagia. The 1,600-kilometer-long path of Santu Jacu touches places of worship dedicated to St. James. Also of interest are routes to other pilgrimage sites such as Borutta, Dorgali, Gesturi, Galtellì, Luogosanto, Laconi, Orgosolo and Sant'Antioco. Finally, the path of the 100 Towers, which winds along the coast of Sardinia.
